The nursing shortage in the US is a biggest problem. The shortage is not due to a lack of interest in the profession. The problem is due to shortage of qualified clinical faculty to train the students. The UB School of Nursing has come up with an innovative approach at Flinders University of Australia that will improve the situation.
The mission is called the Dedicated Education Unit approach; it is a partnership between the hospital administrators, nurse-clinicians and UB academic faculty who have combined their experience to develop their best clinical experience. The founders believe that it is a win-win situation for everyone involved.
