The nursing students of UMass Dartmouth are working with the Partnership for Healthcare Excellence this semester to inform people about the importance of preventing infections. They visited kindergartens at Carney Academy in New Bedford to teach them the importance of washing hands to stay healthy.

In addition the nursing students will attend a Department of Public Health flu clinic in Nov 20. They will give away materials about infection prevention. The awareness campaign’s main focus is to teach everyone the how to prevent infection. The message of UMD nursing students is this: “Wherever you are — whether it's at home, school, the gym or someplace else — washing your hands regularly is the most powerful thing you can do to prevent infection.”
