The London’s Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust have established a partnership with Florence Nightingale School of Nursing and Midwifery at King’s College London and the Faculty of Health at London South Bank University. Undergraduate nursing students will be placed at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital NHS Foundation Trust.

Andrew MacCallum, director of Nursing at Chelsea and Westminster said that he is committed to improve the roles of nursing and midwifery research in the Trust. The program is being started with the help of King’s College London and London South Bank University.

According to a written statement of the health care company, Borgess Health is about to open is new nursing home by this autumn. The new nursing home would be named as Borgess Gardens. The venue of Borgess Gardens would be on the grounds of the former Nazareth College, next to Borgess Health and Fitness Center on land donated by the Congregation of St. Joseph. It is worth $17 million and has been licensed for 81 beds.

One of the most important investments of Borgess Gardens will be in caring for rehabilitation patients and senior citizens, as stated by Paul Spade, the president and chief executive officer of Borgess Health. Infact, one of the wings of the main building of the nursing home will be used for rehabilitation patients. This wing will have two freestanding, self-contained cottages for 10 people.

Lilavati Hospital, Mumbai inaugurated a state-of-the-art dental clinic with microscope and live demo of surgeries to patients. The microscope will facilitate micro surgeries allowing more accurate surgery and faster healing with very small tissue opening. For the first time, patients will be able to view their own root canal treatment due to the real time live display.

The dental clinic will also have facilities for a vast variety of implants for all situations with highly aesthetic results. Complicated advanced implant surgeries including sinus lift surgery, bone augmentation surgery are already routinely undertaken at the hospital.  The microscope helps facilitate quicker, more accurate and predictable root canal treatments. It also claims to reduce the surgical time as surgeries that used to take more than 45 minutes can now be achieved within half an hour, making the process 20 -30 per cent quicker with higher accuracy.

U.S. regulators should make sure high-risk medical devices undergo the agency's toughest review process before they are allowed on the market, a congressional watchdog report said on Thursday.

A Democratic lawmaker said he would hold hearings on the FDA's device review process and, if needed, develop legislation to protect patients.” GAO’s investigation confirms my concerns that the approval process for medical devices is woefully inadequate. For years, Congress has required high-risk medical devices to undergo stringent pre-market review, but GAO's findings show that is simply not happening in every case," said New Jersey Rep. Frank Pallone, who chairs the health subcommittee of the House of Representatives Energy and Commerce Committee.

Licensed Practical Nurses care for the sick, injured and disabled under the direction of registered nurse. It is the first stair towards the career of professional nurses. Many nurses get their start in their careers as an LPN. An LPN is a foundation of smooth running healthcare system. Many people are looking to switch over to nursing as a part time but nobody wants to adopt it as a career. Good LPN programs also teach about the skills and characteristics that are required to be a good nurse.

There is a problem in the US that does not get a lot of attention. There is a shortage of qualified nurses. In five to ten years it will grow to approximately 400,000. A nurse is responsible for a lot of patient care. Since nurses play such a large and important part in today’s medical care system it is necessary to investigate the reason for their shortage. LPN programs take 12-18 months and it includes both classroom instructions and clinical experience. LPN programs are a gate to the RN programs.

Most colleges offer LPN programs whose classes are commenced on weekends. This way they are trying to set all students at ease as they don’t have to worry of leaving their jobs. Some also provide online studies making it possible for students who want night shifts. Major cause of shortage of nurses is the long duration of courses that makes it difficult for students to work anywhere else. Thus it was decide by the governments that the flexible schedule can be a benefit to LPNs. With a little bit of work you can be on your way signed up for one of the good LPN programs.

The patients in these eight hospitals are lacking care, empathy and affection.


Among possible stars Highland Nursing Home in Massena, Kinney Nursing Home in Gouverneur and United Helpers Nursing Home in Cantom have also received one star for overall quality. Not only this St. Joseph’s in Ogdensburg and St.Regis in Massena has also received two stars. The highest rating was received by Claxton –Hepburn Medical Center with five stars.

Elizabeth Sheridan, who is a registered nurse as well as chief operating officer of South Jersey Healthcare Regional Medical Center and corporate chief nursing executive, was honored by the Organization of Nurse Executives/New Jersey. In an award ceremony, Sheridan achieved her award in reward and recognition function. According to this registered nurse achievement can’t be accomplished by one individual.
